Day 6 in Germany

On the 5th day of our trip, I requested that we tour downtown Oberkotzau. Oberkotzau is where my in-laws live and has a population of about 5,707. Just a block away from their home is the new building that my mother-in-law built for her business. She inherited her Uncle's tiny business when he passed away about seven years ago or so and she has turned into something big! In need of a warehouse, an assembly shop and office space she hired employees and built a commercial building right by her house. They make and sell hot wire cutting tools that slice through foam like butter. Germans insulate their buildings with blocks of foam so this comes in handy.

Later we strolled along the river next to main street and crossed over the bridge to the center of town where the church is. It's so pretty there and quiet. After that we went back and hung out with the kids. Most people think that when we go to Germany we sight see all over and visit other parts of Europe. Nope, we usually just hang out at my in-laws' house and stay within an hour's radius - because we are there to see family. However, I made a special request this time to see a really cool city. So stay tuned for that post! In the meantime we went to some really fun places so I hope you enjoy what's next!

My mother-in-laws business

Inside the warehouse
Look how thrilled they are to be out on a walk!

Believe it or not but all of this was under water just a few short months ago. The water went all the way up to that stone wall. They had some major flooding which was a record.

Walking to the center of town

a really old fountain
The church that Manuel was raised in

The town was established by pig herders (or something like that).

Riding a pig is so much fun!

Look how empty the streets are. It's a quiet little town.

The train passing by.
This is one of those old gun towers from WWII

They were always blowing up balloons
Cambrey tormenting Uncle Marcus - death by pillows. She ended up breaking his glasses.

This is how he got her back!
