We Got New Neighbors!

The model home across the street has sat vacant for about six months and we have wndered if anyone would ever move into it. We have been so used to it being empty that it was quite unusual to see a moving truck in front of it today. We were so excited and I quickly began making a plate of cookies to take to our new neighbors. As soon as Manuel got home, the whole family headed across the street to say hello. They are a cute little family about our age with three kids. We are so happy to finally have some children at this end of the street.

Today all of our neighbors were out shoveling their driveways. It was quite the storm, but we were so glad to get rid of all of this inversion. After shoveling out driveway Manuel went across the street and offered to help the neighbor shovel her driveway. Yes, that earned him some brownie points. I love it when my hubby does service.

This week has been lots of fun and we are finally ready for Christmas! Still enjoying more traditions - when you marry a guy from the country where Christmas traditions originated, the traditions in your family become endless. :)

Little Cambrey fell asleep with her tongue out
Paisley took the opportunity to poke fun at her sister

This cute little German house is from Opa. As you can see there is smoke coming out of the chimney. It comes with little cones that you light and they smell like campfire. We love to burn these around Christmas time. Our whole house smells like a wood burning stove (like Opa's house). We burn it next to our gas fire place to help us feel like we have a real fire.
Gabe's been making fortunes and wrapping them up as gifts for everyone. Here's mine.

Plum Tart! Mmmmmm. This was a favorite that my great grandma from Germany used to make all the time. I'd heard so much about it, I had to make it. Now, I know why it was a favorite. As you know, this month is all about traditions. Here's my recipe - Plum Tart

...with ice cream!

I've been making lot's of Christmas cookies!

Cambrey is almost as heavy as her sister.

These are the gifts we made for all the kids' teachers.
So proud of her Rosy cheeks. I'm pretty sure Paisley was behind this.

Yay we got new neighbors!
