Halloween Festivities

I love this month so much because it's always packed with lot's of fun things to do. We never get bored in October.

The kids have been to several Halloween parties and activities between friends, school and church. It seems like I put them in their costumes every few days.

Gabe and Paisley's last day of school was last Wednesday and they each had a class Halloween party. I got to help out a little with Gabe's party and then had to run and pick up Paisley from kindergarten and then take her to another Halloween party at her friend's house. Then I had to run and get Cambrey from preschool and then go back to Gabe's class to watch his party come to an end.

Before all that we had our super fun annual ward Halloween party at the church. I made a huge pot of chili that I call "Lindsey's Sweet & Savory, Smokey Bacon Sausage Chili" It's always a hit! We had our family pictures taken and then the kids went around to all the rooms in the church building and played different games. The youth in our ward are in charge of the party and the games. Because we have so many youth, they always do such a great job making it fun for the little kids.

After the games we all went out to the parking lot and did "trunk-or-treating" where the adults decorate the trunks of their cars and then line them up and the kids come around trick-or-treating for candy. I had scary music playing in my car and fake spooky candles that were glowing. The song I played over and over was Bach's Toccata and Fuge (Dminor).

Gabe loved the idea of his costume but once it was on him he was embarrassed to wear so much blood and gore. Let's just say he had a little fit and was very happy when his costume began to fall apart. Paisley loved being a cat and Cambrey begged to be Snow White. I made all of their costumes this year with things we had laying around the house. It felt nice to be able to save some money and get creative.

Last week I took the kids to Garner Village and met my two sisters Crista and Cherise there. The kids call it "Witch Village" because in October they decorate the village with witches. It was a lot of fun but crowded because it was a Friday. I bought the kids hot chocolate and candy from the candy store. I also bought them tiny bath soap beads that they got to pick out.

Stay tuned for the next post as we still have four more parties to attend in addition to Halloween!
